14 Sivananda Yoga - Tai Chi Bali Sivananda Yoga is a classical, holistic system of Hatha Yoga that emphasizes a spiritual approach to well-being, founded by Swami Sivananda and brought to the West by his disciple, Swami Vishnudevananda. The practice is built on five principles: proper exercise (asana), breathing (pranayama), relaxation (savasana), a vegetarian diet, and positive thinking and meditation (vedanta and dhyana). A typical 90-minute class includes chanting, deep breathing, and a sequence of 12 basic poses, with periods of relaxation integrated throughout.
